The Constitution sets the rules for how the U.S. government works. It also protects basic rights for all Americans.
It was written in 1787 by delegates at the Constitutional Convention, including James Madison, often called the “Father of the Constitution.”
The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. It lists key rights like freedom of speech and religion.
It still sets the rules for the U.S. government and protects citizens’ rights. It’s the highest law in the country.
